Crispy and crispy skin (which is optional), good sauce and perfectly cooked chicken. It doesn’t get any better!

Marry Me Chicken

This super simple recipe makes crispy tender chicken with a perfect, gooey glaze. You may (or may not) remember the fried chicken I made a few months ago? Well, this sauce was so good on the chicken pieces that I wondered what would happen if I cooked a few pieces in the sauce properly without needing any pieces or breading.

Not only does this sauce taste amazing, but it’s incredibly satisfying to see it well and turn it into a perfectly balanced savory, sweet, and garlicky syrup. But your mouth is really starting to water, while the sauce around your chicken and coat is easily cooked. The bonus of this recipe? This makes enough sauce that you have enough to put over some rice or steamed broccoli.

Chicken thighs are perfect for this recipe because the dark meat is very moist and full of flavor. Although we love this recipe with chicken breasts too…they are incredible in this sauce.

The best part about this honey garlic chicken? You already have all the ingredients in your kitchen pantry/kitchen faucet/fridge.

So few ingredients are needed for the perfect sweet-to-salty honey garlic sauce that will have you licking your fingers after every bite.

*For the chicken breasts: Use 3 breasts, cut in half horizontally. Sear the breast fillets on each side until golden and cooked through (about 6 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of your fillets). Continue the instructions from the sauce, later. **For oven-roasted, bone-in thighs: Preheat oven to 400°F or 200°C. Place the chicken in the oven and roast skin side down for 3 minutes. Turn and cook for an additional 3 minutes until browned on each side. Then bake in the oven for another 20-25 minutes, until cooked through and no longer pink inside. Continue the instructions from the sauce, later.

I don’t care how long it slow cooks. And whether it’s a stew, in a soup, or in a Hainanese chicken.

I don’t care, I like gray skin. I want gray skin. Give me all the gray skin!!! 😂

Because I’m such a stickler for chicken skin, I like to make my chicken stew in the oven rather than the stove. And unless someone knows the magic trick, the only way to get a crispy skin for Stew is in the oven.

Baked Chicken Thighs

Cover it for a portion, then uncover it so the sauce heats up, the chicken becomes super tender, the vegetables surface and the stew caramelizes, and—most importantly in my world—get the chicken skin. Super chair!

Try my quick chicken stew – made with boneless chicken thighs, it’s on the table in an hour but tastes like it’s been cooking all day!

I’m lucky enough to have a large, shallow casserole dish/dutch oven that’s perfect for this kind of cooking that goes from oven to oven. But if you don’t have it, don’t worry, just put everything in the baking dish before putting it in the oven.

And – confession time. The reason I cut out most of the bag in the photo below is because I ate the chicken before taking this photo. The side you don’t see is just the bones, completely cleaned.

Recipe video above. Slow-cooked chicken with ultra-tender meat and decadently crispy skin smothered in a gravy-like sauce that’s lip-smackingly delicious. Carrots, celery, onions, and potatoes make this a filling meal so you won’t need anything else—except some crusty bread dipped in sauce! Do this in a large oven proof dish, or see the notes if you don’t have one.

If you don’t have a large ovenproof bowl, make the entire recipe including step 7 on the stove and pour everything into a baking dish. Follow the recipe.

Flashback to May 2018 when this recipe was first released when he tore his ACL and had knee surgery. Down hair, constant “help me” hands, and being locked in a play pen for weeks.

I told him not to eat the beans. I warned him about the cone. He didn’t accept!!😂

We’ve always loved the creamy Italian-inspired flavors of this Creamy Italian Instant Pot Chicken Breast , this Crock Pot Chicken and Potatoes , and this Instant Pot Italian Chicken Pasta .

Since this month is all about those perfectly grilled chicken breasts, I wanted to share a few different ways we can take a classic grilled chicken breast and jazz it up without adding a ton of prep time.

Finally, we will have a few conveniences, put it in the oven and forget about it, it just needs a simple salad or a bowl of pasta to make it an instant hit with the family.

Easy Bourbon Chicken

The Best Chicken Marinade (for Grilling Or Baking)

If you stick to the recipe and use heavy cream (don’t freeze low-fat dairy), you can also store in an airtight freezer or zip-top bag for up to 3 months, it might make a great freezer meal!

We love it with plain, simple pasta, but you can serve these Cream Cheese Potatoes for a little extra flavor, or these Slow Cooker Potatoes for a make-ahead option.

Note that the chicken is as good as it is in these photos – there is enough sauce for us to serve with pasta, but the pasta is not drowning in the sauce. If you want more sauce, I would multiply the sauce recipe by 1.5 (so instead of 1 cup cream, use 1.5 cups, etc.)
