The menu tab at the top lets you set the temperature and even has a timer to let you know when a food is cooked. But if you want to start cooking following any of the recipes, they will need to change the temperature setting to a certain level.
Once you change the temperature setting, the food will start to cook. At this point, it’s important to keep an eye on whatever is cooking, otherwise it will burn. If the food burns, there is more loss of happiness than food.

However, ovens and microwaves are not the only methods of cooking. Campfires and even grills can also be used for cooking, but instead of requiring electricity, they only need a source of fuel.
In short, if you want to use campfires for cooking, they will need a fuel source and a fire extinguisher. Here is a list of everything that can be used to start a campfire in Project Zombie.
All of the above items along with a lighter or matches can start a campfire in Project Zomboid and, once lit, can be used to cook food.
To cook in Elite Campfire, open its inventory and then place a food item inside. Once you put the food inside the campfire, wait for it to cook, and then remove it before it burns, like in the oven or microwave.

In order to create cooking recipes in Project Zombie, you will need to collect different cookware items in the game. Some cooking tools are required to make certain recipes, and some require a certain level of cooking skill or skill journal.
