How To Bake Bacon In The Oven For Perfect Crispy Strips

If you’ve ever wondered why some people seem to know how to cook without a recipe or whip up a meal on the fly, it’s probably because they know the basics. This is what I want for you! I hope each post helps you feel better about yourself so you can enjoy your time in the kitchen even more!

If you’ve never baked bacon before, you might be wondering why you would, but trust me. Once you’ve cooked bacon in the oven, you’ll never want to cook it on the stove again.

Step Two: While the oven is preheating, line the tray with parchment paper. Place the bacon on the baking sheet in one layer, making sure the pieces do not overlap for best results.

Step Four: When the bacon is done, use tongs to transfer the bacon to a paper-lined plate to drain.

Step Five: If you want to save the bacon grease for later, let it cool a bit, make sure it’s still runny, then pour it through a fine-mesh colander into a heatproof bowl.

It depends a lot on the thickness of the bacon. For thinner bacon, it may take 10-15 minutes. Thicker cut bacon (my choice) can take 15-20 minutes. It also depends on your preferences. If you like your bacon a little more crispy, you can let it cook a little longer.

Depends on! In the case of thinner bacon, it is not necessary to turn it over. For thicker strips, you may need to turn them once so everything cooks evenly.

No, not necessarily, but it makes things easier. To me, the point of making bacon in the oven is to make cleanup easier, not harder. Using parchment paper makes cleanup easy, so I use it all the time.

How Long To Cook Bacon In The Oven (rack Or No Rack)

You can save the leftover bacon fat for later cooking if you like! Just pour any liquid fat into a fine cheesecloth while still warm and store in an airtight container for up to six months.

Now that you’ve made the bacon, it’s time to use it! Of course, you can serve it with eggs, toast, etc., or use it in one of our readers’ favorite recipes, below!
